A passenger  is a travelling person who is not directly responsible for the transport.

Passengers can be found on

• taxis
• busses
• trains
• airliners
• cruiseliners and other ships including ferries

A passenger is not somebody

• in his own car (even with a chauffeur)
• who is a crew member (if on duty)
