NAGPRA --->Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act 25 U.S.C.3001, Pub. L. 101-601 (November 16, 1990). This act provides for consultation with native American tribes and native Hawaiian organizations regarding the cultural affiliation, ownership, and disposition of human remains and associated material culture which are excavated or discovered on federal lands.
The Act also provides defines criminal penalties for illegal trafficking in Native American human remains and cultural items.

This Act authorizes the Secretary of the Interior to "expand and maintain a national register of districts, sites, building, structures, and objects significant in American history, architecture, archeology, and culture" and to dispense matching grants-in-aid to the states for historical surveys, preservation plans, and the acquisition and development of historic properties.
